Veteran Forward Packs His Bags and Returns Home After Kent Hughes Shows No Interest in Signing Him

We have an interesting development regarding veteran forward Evgeny Kuznetsov, who played alongside young Montreal Canadiens forward Ivan Demidov.
For those who missed the news, here's a recap.
Essentially, Evgeny Kuznetsov very openly stated that he truly wanted to play for the Montreal Canadiens this season, but Kent Hughes simply didn't want to sign him.
"According to Evgeny Kuznetsov's agent Shumi Babaev, despite the fact Kuznetsov would want to play in Montreal, the Canadiens are not interested at this time.

So, we have an update today.
Evgeny Kuznetsov decides to pack up and head home
It's not necessarily final, but it does show a bit of his discouragement.
Let's just say that if he had signed with the Montreal Canadiens, he would clearly be spending the rest of the summer in town, training in Brossard with Patrik Laine and Ivan Demidov.
But that's not the case.
After spending part of the summer in the United States, forward Evgeny Kuznetsov - who still hopes to land a contract in the NHL - has returned home in recent days.

That's what his agent announced, while adding that if things don't work out for him in the NHL, there will be plenty of interest from the KHL to offer him a new contract.
Evgeny Kuznetsov, 33 years old, recorded 7 points in 20 games with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2024, as well as 37 points in 39 games with SKA last season.
