A statistical correction seems inevitable regarding the Canadiens’ third goal scored last night against the Minnesota Wild.

Jérémy Filosa pointed out a fairly glaring anomaly while analyzing the sequence that led to the goal.
He’s still trying to understand how Noah Dobson ended up with an assist on the scoresheet.
On the play, you can clearly see Kirby Dach make a cross-ice pass to his linemate Cole Caufield.
After that, the puck deflected off the boards and landed directly on captain Nick Suzuki’s stick.
The play then came back to Dach, who finished the move by scoring.
You have to wonder what the official scorer was watching to credit an assist to Dobson.
It’s the kind of sequence that sometimes forces the National Hockey League to review video the next morning.
The stats are examined closely, and an official change should be made to correct things.

An assist could be taken away from Noah Dobson of the Montreal Canadiens

Fans who manage hockey pools or track their favorite players’ points will be intrigued by the possible correction coming.
"I don’t know how Dobson ended up with an assist on the Canadiens’ third goal. I see Dach make a cross-ice pass to Caufield, who deflects it off the boards to Suzuki, who feeds it back to Dach for the goal. But where is Dobson in all this to get an assist???"

Speaking of last night’s game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Minnesota Wild, let’s revisit how Martin St-Louis received the NHL’s explanation for the overtime non-call on Nick Suzuki.
The officials made their decision in real time, ruling the contact accidental, and that call stands regardless of the frustration on the Canadiens’ bench.
It was definitely a complicated game for the league’s officials, that’s for sure!
