A big piece of news dropped yesterday afternoon for the Montreal Canadiens, as Quebec forward Alex Barré-Boulet was placed on waivers.
This waiver placement is obviously unfortunate for ABB, who had a strong camp and has plenty of talent, but it's also a major red flag for another Quebec player we love.
The end of Rafaël Harvey-Pinard's journey with the Montreal Canadiens, at least as a regular?
Considering that the Habs have already made significant decisions with Heineman, Kapanen, Barré-Boulet, and even
Joshua Roy.. What does this mean for Harvey-Pinard?
Will he be able to regain his spot as a regular with the Montreal Canadiens, ahead of the names mentioned above?
Tony Marinaro has doubts.
While on the La Poche Bleue podcast, he specifically addressed the case of RHP.
The Quebec native, who is still injured at the time of writing, collected 10 points in 45 games last season, and 20 points in 34 games the season before (2022-23).
Marinaro pointed out that RHP is indeed an outstanding person off the ice, but unfortunately, he doesn't see a future with the Montreal Canadiens.
Youngsters like Oliver Kapanen, Emil Heineman,
Owen Beck, Joshua Roy, and
Ivan Demidov are likely to all surpass him, sooner or later, and in some cases, they already have.
«He doesn't have a future with the Canadiens, Rafaël Harvey-Pinard. It's a shame, I adore him. If I had a daughter, I'd tell her to marry him.» - Tony Marinaro
Here's the clip in question.
