We've had quite a bit of action with the Montreal Canadiens. Just a few days ago, the team was comfortably sitting in a playoff spot, but after an extremely tough week, Martin St-Louis's squad has dropped in the standings.

Obviously, that's really unfortunate, and we're all hoping the Habs can find a new way to climb back up again. But if not, we can take some consolation in the idea that they might be able to add another excellent piece for the future.
After a rough five game losing streak, Montreal currently finds itself out of the playoff picture.

The Habs drop in the standings, but move up in the projected order for the first round of the NHL Draft

As pointed out by the excellent Marc-Olivier Beaudoin, if nothing changes and the draft were held today, Kent Hughes would hold the 13th overall pick.
For those who follow prospects and keep up with the analyses of the excellent Simon Boisvert, you're already familiar with the name Carter Bear.
Well, according to many, with that projected 13th overall pick, the Canadiens would be in a position to grab the excellent Bear.

Carter Bear: a good consolation prize for Kent Hughes and the Habs?

Of course, I wholeheartedly hope that the Montreal Canadiens make the playoffs, but if they don't, we might just end up with a bit of a "consolation prize."
Hey, we're just trying to find something positive, especially after another tough loss!
Carter Bear, 18 years old, is a 6-foot, 177-pound center who has already racked up 82 points in 56 games this season in the WHL with the Everett Silvertips. (77 penalty minutes and a +33 differential)
He is, by far, his team's top scorer and is definitely a name to watch.
