We have news regarding a possible imminent promotion for Vincent Lecavalier with the Montreal Canadiens, as an assistant.
Assistant to whom? That is the real question.
As Maxime Truman explains well in his article of the day, titled «Vincent Lecavalier is taking up more and more space internally,» the best friend of Martin St-Louis indeed seems to be increasingly involved within the organization.
Since his arrival with the Canadiens in February 2022, Lecavalier appears to have progressed up the hierarchy, and his role definitely seems to have changed even though the Canadiens have never announced it.
Could the one who is technically just a «special advisor to hockey operations for the Montreal Canadiens» currently receive a promotion soon? Has it already happened?
Vincent Lecavalier named as an assistant in Montreal?
Could Lecavalier become an important figure for the Canadiens? It clearly seems to be heading in that direction, as Max Truman points out very well:
«He participated in the hiring process of Pascal Vincent...
He was with the Canadiens' management at the Sphere in Vegas...
He is the one who recommended Tanner Pearson to Kent Hughes...
He had influence during the last trade deadline...
He was seen at several U18/U20 international competitions...»
- Max Truman, via DLC While we believed he could possibly replace Alex Burrows behind the Canadiens' bench and become the assistant coach to his best friend, could he ultimately become Kent Hughes' assistant? Is he already?
This will be something to watch over the next few weeks, but it indeed seems that he is increasingly acting like an assistant to the GM and as an additional right-hand man for Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton.
He does not act like a simple advisor. In short, Truman adds an intriguing piece of information.
«Let us remember that before being named an advisor, Vincent Lecavalier was the subject of a rumor that he would be named assistant to the GM...
And according to my sources, the Canadiens fired the employee responsible for that leak. Will Vincent Lecavalier truly become it one day?»
So don't be surprised if the former Tampa Bay Lightning star forward is eventually promoted within the Montreal Canadiens. Vincent Lecavalier is an excellent hockey mind, and he can certainly bring a lot to the organization.
