A forward has indeed just been suspended within the Montreal Canadiens' organizational structure because he is about to leave.

Things are moving within the Canadiens organization, and today's development comes out of Trois-Rivières.
On Wednesday, the Trois-Rivières Lions announced that they have placed forward Andrew Coxhead on the suspended players list in order to remove him from the lineup.
In the same statement, the team adds that he will be leaving the organization to pursue other opportunities in the United Kingdom. The kind of decision that happens quickly, and then gets resolved just as quickly.

Andrew Coxhead is suspended by the Trois-Rivières Lions and will ultimately leave the Montreal Canadiens organization

"The Trois-Rivières Lions have placed forward Andrew Coxhead on the suspended players list in order to remove him from the lineup.

He will be leaving the organization to pursue other opportunities in the United Kingdom.

Thank you for your time with the Lions, Andrew!"

It initially seemed like an intriguing signing, given his background as a high-level prospect. But it is already over for him here.
Coxhead joined the Lions in a move announced on March 20, 2025, when the club acquired him in a trade. In terms of profile, he is listed at 6'3" and around 200 pounds, which explains why his name often came up when size was being discussed in Trois-Rivières.
In this type of situation, the suspended players list is mainly used to officially remove a player from the lineup when he is leaving. The Lions have in fact used the same formula in other similar announcements over the past few seasons.
What stands out here is the reminder that Trois-Rivières is part of the same larger funnel as Montreal. When the system moves, even at the lower levels, it is felt throughout the entire organization.
For Coxhead, the door is open elsewhere, and the Lions have already turned the page in their message. Professional paths are not always straight lines, especially in that league.
Best of luck in the United Kingdom, and best of success to whoever takes his place in the lineup next.
