The Canadiens are holding their breath while waiting for news on Alexandre Texier.

Tuesday night in Boston, the forward left the game after a hit and did not return to play. The club then mentioned an upper-body injury, without adding details, which quickly fueled speculation.
In the hours that followed, a doctor well known in the hockey world commented on the sequence.

A doctor gives us a better idea of the length of forward Alexandre Texier's absence

He noted that the mechanism seen on the ice often leads to two scenarios that require caution, either a shoulder separation or a concussion, and he was hoping to know more as early as Wednesday.
The worst part in this type of situation is the silence.
As long as the Canadiens do not provide a timeline, everyone imagines the longest possible absence.
On the ice, Texier had been useful since his arrival. With the Montreal Canadiens, he has 15 games, 3 goals and 3 assists, for 6 points.
He has a regular role, which explains why his absence would hurt at a time when the schedule is tightening.
Texier is 26 years old and is on a one-year, $1M contract that expires after 2025-2026. It's not a contract that blocks the future, but it's a player who had just earned himself a spot and power-play time, which is never guaranteed in Montreal.
Now, the Christmas break comes at the right time to catch a breath and recover. If Texier has to miss time, it opens the door to immediate adjustments around Phillip Danault, Josh Anderson, and the rest of the top-9.
The Habs won in Boston, but the bill could come due afterward.
Let's hope for the best for Texier.
