Montembeault reacts to Fowler's return to Laval with a clear vote of confidence
In the last few hours, during a live press conference from Ottawa, goaltender Samuel Montembeault was asked to comment on Jacob Fowler's performance.
Jacob Fowler has been sent back to Laval, and the Habs can breathe a little easier in goal.
It will truly make things easier to manage for Martin St-Louis.
Kent Hughes did not consider a three-goalie rotation to be ideal.
The three-goalie situation is now a thing of the past, and it restores the initial order from the start of the season.
Fowler was assigned to the Laval Rocket to continue his development.
The logic is simple: a young goaltender needs starts, not just practices.
With three goalies in Montreal, neither Fowler nor Jakub Dobes was getting enough games.
Samuel Montembeault was clear about Jacob Fowler
Samuel Montembeault did not hide his admiration after seeing Fowler up close.
He found him impressive, and he was especially impressed by his attitude.
Montembeault highlighted his calm demeanor and the way he tracks the puck.
On the ice, Fowler still left a strong impression with the big club.
He played 10 games, posting a 2.62 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage.
"One of the positives with three goalies, we have such a busy schedule with not a lot of time to practice, it gave us time to practice with [Eric Raymond]. Even during practices, the third would go on the other ice for 20 minutes to work goalie things. It allowed me more time to re-adjust."

Alexandre Carrier also sent a positive message to the young goaltender.
He knows that being sent down to Laval stirs emotions, but he believes Fowler has a pro's attitude.
Yes, Fowler's attitude truly surprised everyone, in a positive way.
The decision may frustrate some fans, because Fowler held his own.
But for the organization, it's a move rooted in simple common sense.
Montembeault also spoke about a very specific move made by Fowler in Montreal that shows great maturity despite his young age.
"I thought he was really good. He's only 21. He's impressive.
Technically, I think he's really strong. He moves well and tracks the puck well."
