We just had a major surprise in the NCAA involving Montreal Canadiens prospect Jacob Fowler. His team, Boston College, was just upset by the ninth-ranked team (BC was ranked 1st).
This is a first in NCAA history.
They have already been eliminated in the Hockey East division quarterfinals.
Fowler will now have an earlier break than expected, although he will still have to participate in the famous Frozen Four, as Boston College had already qualified for this competition.
In short, this is a real shockwave in the NCAA right now.
The Northeastern Huskies possibly cause the biggest upset in NCAA hockey history as they eliminate Jacob Fowler's Boston College Eagles
It's obviously a devastating loss for Fowler and his teammates after this 3-1 defeat.
A catastrophic scenario for Jacob Fowler's squad.
Boston College is now officially eliminated from the Hockey East playoffs.
The Frozen Four begins in about twelve days, which will give Fowler some rest. After that, we can expect him to sign a contract with Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens once he has recovered from this emotional shock, but what an incredible turn of events!
Boston College was favored to win the playoffs, and they won't even make it to the semifinals.
I wonder if this will have an impact on BC players who were preparing to sign NHL contracts and expected to reach the final.
This will be an interesting storyline to follow, but they will likely be extremely motivated for the Frozen Four.
