The young defenseman of the Montreal Canadiens has just received some fantastic news.
As expected, he is the winner of the 2025 Calder Trophy, awarded to the most outstanding rookie of the past National Hockey League season.

The Calder Memorial Trophy is awarded annually "to the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition in the National Hockey League."

We were excited to see the video, especially since Steve Mayer, the NHL's Chief Content Officer, mentioned in a recent interview that the reaction of the Calder Trophy winner took the league by surprise.
Well, here it is at last-that reaction.
This nomination also marks the end of a long drought for the Montreal Canadiens organization.

Lane Hutson received 165 of 191 first-place Calder votes. Flames goalie Joseph Woll finished second with 16 first-place votes - nearly 700 points behind Hutson. Incredible.
