Kent Hughes and the Canadiens strike gold with their latest addition

For the past few years, Kent Hughes has been proving that he deserves full confidence when he makes an acquisition.
And everything suggests that his most recent offensive addition, obviously Alexandre Texier, is another very solid move.
Thursday night in Raleigh, the Montreal Canadiens earned a 7-5 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. In that wild game, Texier picked up two assists, exactly the kind of night that helps lock down a spot on a line.
One of his (excellent) passes led to Nick Suzuki's 14th goal early in the first period. Later on, he also set up Cole Caufield's 20th goal, a marker that swung the momentum.
The Alexandre Texier acquisition: another home run by Kent Hughes for the Montreal Canadiens
After the game, Eric Engels spoke about Texier who's been easy to like since his arrival.
"A lot to like about the player Alex Texier has been for the Montreal Canadiens. Making the most of his new lease on an NHL career."

Marco D'Amico, for his part, pointed out that Texier has been an important addition on the top line, with two key assists.
When two strong observers send the same message, it stands out.
Kent Hughes took a bet on a low-risk acquisition.
Texier is 26 years old and signed a one-year contract worth $1 million. He now has nine points with the Canadiens, including three goals. In his NHL career, he has totaled 99 points in 258 games, including 43 goals, so he's not an unknown commodity and he can still genuinely break out.
In a win where Juraj Slafkovsky, Sammy Blais, and Lane Hutson each recorded two points, Texier found his own way to stand out.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what comes next for Texier, but the early signs are very encouraging. Things could also get interesting up front quickly, with Laine recently spotted back on the ice in Brossard.
