The Montreal Canadiens' executives, Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton, have just held an important meeting involving the excellent Ivan Demidov.
It's the head coach of SKA, Roman Rotenberg, who revealed this information.
« SKA head coach Roman Rotenberg says he just had a Zoom meeting with Kent Hughes, Jeff Gorton, and the Canadiens' executives to discuss Ivan Demidov.
They had a "very positive conversation about how they will all develop Ivan. There was no discussion about him leaving for Canada during this meeting."

So, it's a very important meeting, and it's extremely positive to learn that both teams have communicated.
Kent Hughes, Jeff Gorton, and many Canadiens executives attended the meeting with SKA
We're talking about a meeting that lasted an hour and a half.
« Everything indicates that Canadiens prospect Ivan Demidov will play in the KHL next season. The Canadiens' executives and those of SKA Saint Petersburg had a virtual meeting lasting an hour and a half in recent days to discuss the development plan for the recent fifth overall pick. »

And see an excerpt from his comments:
« I had a Zoom discussion for an hour and a half with representatives of the Montreal Canadiens. Head coach Martin St-Louis was not present, but special advisor to hockey operations Vincent Lecavalier, the club president, the general manager, and all the executives were.
We discussed Demidov, everything was well covered. It was a very positive conversation about how we will develop Ivan at SKA. There wasn't even a conversation about him leaving for Canada now. »
- SKA head coach, Roman Rotenberg
All of this is very positive.
Let's remember that if the plan doesn't change, Demidov will play the next season in the KHL and then join the Montreal Canadiens lineup in 2025.
Rotenberg insisted that Montreal and SKA have a common plan and that they are working as a team to develop Ivan Demidov in the best possible way.
Wow, we love it!
Ivan Demidov, 18, ultimately scored 60 points in 30 games last season in the MHL. Everything indicates that he will now (finally) make the jump to the KHL!
