We've just learned some major news involving the Montreal Canadiens and goaltender Marc-André Fleury.

Yes, the name Marc-André Fleury is once again coming up in discussions in Montreal.
What's circulating is simple.
Some teams reportedly contacted Allan Walsh (his agent) to sign him and bring him out of retirement.
And the Montreal Canadiens were among those teams!
Pierre Lebrun reported back in December that teams had checked in on Fleury.
When you see goaltenders dropping like flies all over the league, the idea of a veteran quickly comes back onto the table-but in Montreal's case, it's a bit different.
The assumption is that this happened before the recall of Jacob Fowler, at a time when Samuel Montembeault was going through all sorts of difficulties.

However, the message appears to be clear.
"I was also told yesterday that the Canadiens were among the few teams to have contacted Marc-André Fleury's agent (Allan Walsh) last month. Unfortunately, Fleury is dealing with too much pain and too many nagging injuries to seriously consider coming out of retirement. For now, at least!"

Even if the phone rings, Fleury does not seem ready to jump back into the NHL fire.
Over his NHL career, he has posted 1,051 games played, 575 wins, and 76 shutouts.
He also owns a 2.60 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage.
Even right at the very end, he still had plenty left in the tank.
In 2024-25, he played 26 games with the Minnesota Wild. He recorded 14 wins, with a 2.93 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage, along with one shutout.
That's where things get tricky for the Montreal Canadiens.
When the situation in goal becomes a talking point, teams look for a "plug-and-play" solution.
And Fleury is a name that sells tickets and can get you points in the standings.
This is really interesting!
