This marks the end of a major chapter in his life.
"For Gabriel Dumont, at 34 years old, the time had come to move on.
The former Montreal Canadiens player has decided to retire from hockey after more than 900 games played professionally, primarily in the American Hockey League (AHL)."

There has been a lot of reaction following this announcement:
Now 34 years old, the 5-foot-11, 196-pound forward from Dégelis, Quebec, was drafted in the fifth round by the Montreal Canadiens in 2009.
Gabriel Dumont played games with the Canadiens over four seasons before moving on to the Tampa Bay Lightning organization.
In total, he recorded 9 points in 90 NHL games (93 including the playoffs), but he had a stellar career in the American Hockey League.
