Canadiens reclaim Samuel Blais after brief stint with the Maple Leafs

After getting placed on waivers by the Maple Leafs yesterday, the Canadiens reclaimed him today.

So that is the announcement for now, but that's not all!

We are now waiting for a second announcement from the Montreal Canadiens organization to know whether Blais will be sent out West (to immediately join the Canadiens on the road) or whether he will instead be sent to the Laval Rocket.

Blais, 29 years old, is a 6-foot-2, 206-pound forward who was a 6th-round pick of the St. Louis Blues in 2014.

He has 74 points in 265 career NHL games (126 penalty minutes), and he has added 3 points in 8 games with the Maple Leafs this season.

We obviously remind you that he is under contract until next July 1st, that he earns $775,000 per year, and that this contract was signed by none other than Kent Hughes himself.

It will also be interesting to see how the Canadiens manage the current congestion in the bottom six, especially with the addition of Texier, the claim of Blais, and the presence of Veleno, Davidson, and Florian Xhekaj.

Shortly after the claim, the Canadiens announced that Blais will join the Laval Rocket.
