It's really starting to go sour for Quebec goaltender Samuel Montembeault with the Montreal Canadiens.
We mentioned it a little earlier today, but Martin St-Louis has now made a clear decision. Jacob Fowler will start in net against the Flyers tonight.
The worst-case scenario is confirmed for Samuel Montembeault
He is truly being relegated to the role of the Canadiens' third-string goaltender.
Not only will he not be in net tonight, not only has he not gotten a start in more than two weeks. But on top of that, he won't even be in uniform tonight for the game against the Philadelphia Flyers! Unbelievable.
Who would have predicted this at the start of the season, when Montembeault was the Canadiens' undisputed number one and was on track to earn his ticket to the Olympics?
Samuel Montembeault sent to the press box for tonight's game: Jakub Dobes will back up Jacob Fowler
That has to be one hell of a slap in the face for Montembeault.

Samuel Montembeault, 29, has a record of 5-6-1 this season, with a goals-against average of 3.65 and a save percentage of .857.
At this point, let's just hope he can return to being the goaltender he was last season for the Montreal Canadiens (or at least come close).
