Canadiens issue update on Alex Newhook after collision with the boards

We have a new last-minute announcement from the Montreal Canadiens.
No, it's doesn't seem to be a minor injury for Alex Newhook...
We just witnessed a concerning scene involving Newhook after he crashed into the boards and appeared to twist his ankle or possibly bend his knee.
His night is over, and it absolutely does not look good.
The worst is confirmed for Alex Newhook - his game is over, and he won't even be available after the game
Here is the team's statement on the matter...
"Forward Alex Newhook is being evaluated and will not return to play tonight."

Among other things to note, please note that Joe Veleno took a few reps in Newhook's spot, but they will clearly need another alternative
Especially since Nick Suzuki can't play 40 minutes per game, and he's also dealing with something himself (a foot injury).

No, it does not look good, and no, we should not expect to see Newhook again for quite a while.
It's such a shame... He was finally truly breaking out!
Alex Newhook, 24 years old, is a 5-foot-11, 200-pound forward who was a first-round pick of the Colorado Avalanche in 2019 (16th overall).
He has 12 points in 16 games this season (6 goals and 6 assists), and 138 points in 312 games.
