We mentioned it a little earlier today, but officially, the Montreal Canadiens have announced two changes live from Carolina.
We've had quite a bit of action today, that's for sure. The Montreal Canadiens held a morning skate at the Lenovo Center ahead of their game against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Following the session, Martin St-Louis confirmed that Dobes will get the start in goal. He also indicated that Jayden Struble will enter the lineup, replacing Adam Engstrom.
Two changes confirmed by the Montreal Canadiens: Jakub Dobes and Jayden Struble come in as Samuel Montembeault and Adam Engstrom come out
Up front, the line combinations at the skate gave a good picture of the options. Cole Caufield skated with Nick Suzuki and Alex Texier. We also saw Juraj Slafkovsky alongside Oliver Kapanen and Ivan Demidov.
Zack Bolduc, Phillip Danault, and Josh Anderson were on the same unit, while the usual fourth line rounded things out.
The removal of young Adam Engstrom, in favor of Jayden Struble, is not exactly unanimous at the moment. You could even call it a controversial change made by Martin St-Louis on defense, but the good news remains the following:
"Mike Matheson confirmed good to go for tonight's game by the Canadiens." - Marco D'Amico
We're glad to see Matheson back in the lineup and healthy after the dangerous hit to the head from Marchand.
Tonight's game is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET, and Carolina will be waiting for the Canadiens with its usual high-intensity style.
It should be a good one!
