Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexandre Carrier and his partner, Alicia Lessard, recently appeared on the Sans Restriction podcast.

They answered questions from Kevin Raphaël, and the result was a truly interesting episode.
As you know, on December 18, Carrier was traded to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for defenseman Justin Barron, who went the other way to Nashville.
Well, that rumor has now been confirmed by his girlfriend, Alicia Lessard.

Alexandre Carrier's Partner Confirms That Playing for the Montreal Canadiens Was on the Defenseman's "Bucket List"

Alicia Lessard, a pediatrician well known on social media, confirmed that seeing her partner suit up for the Canadiens was a dream for both of them.
Why?
Because they love the city, because they wanted Carrier to return home-and because it meant they could finally be together again.
Indeed, Alicia Lessard works full-time in Montreal, and that was also the case when Carrier was playing for the Nashville Predators-imagine that!
So, it's amazing for them to finally be reunited, for good.
"But what we also understand is that, one way or another, Carrier would have ended up joining the Canadiens, because as his partner noted, playing for the Habs was on the defenseman's bucket list." - DLC

We highly recommend watching the full episode:

Yes, that trade really changed their lives-and for the better!

A New Contract With the Montreal Canadiens Shouldn't Be a Problem for Alexandre Carrier

We're also bringing this up because, believe it or not, Carrier's current contract ends in 2027.
That'll come fast.
He'll be an unrestricted free agent by then, free to sign wherever he wants-but from the way they talk, it sounds very likely he'll re-sign in Montreal when the time comes!
Personally, I believe this trade is probably Kent Hughes' most efficient and underrated move yet.
The Montreal Canadiens practically transformed after Carrier's arrival, and the team went on a run that ultimately led them to the NHL playoffs.
