As we previously reported, Kent Hughes added a new goaltender before the 2024 camp, precisely because he had to replace Quentin Miller, and now it's been confirmed that the injury he sustained is unfortunately serious.
The young Canadiens goaltender, who was expected to be the number one at rookie camp and an important player for the Rimouski Océanic (in the QMJHL), will ultimately have to undergo shoulder surgery.
It's a terrible stroke of bad luck for him, coming at the worst possible time, and it's obviously a major setback in his development curve.
This information was revealed by Mathieu Paradis of the site Toutsurlehockey, noting that the injury occurred before the start of camp.
It seems St-Hilaire will now replace Miller there.
As for the Canadiens, Montreal will move forward with Matteo Drobac and Samuel Richard in net to face the Toronto Maple Leafs prospects.
There will be a game today at 1 PM.
At 19 years old, Miller is a 6-foot-3, 180-pound goaltender who was selected 128th overall (4th round) by the Montreal Canadiens in 2023.
More details to follow.
