June is often the month of departures for certain NHL organizations, including, of course, <a href='https://www.nhl.com/canadiens/' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>the Montreal Canadiens</a>. Earlier this month, we learned of the first official departure. <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/habsfanaticss/status/1932672117394260028'><div style='border:1px solid #CCCCCC;border-radius:10px;padding:20px;width:300px;'>Loading from Twitter ...</div></a></blockquote></div> After Connor Hughes, it's now the turn of the excellent Brandon Gignac to try his luck in Europe. Journalist <a href='https://ici.radio-canada.ca/profil/26415/marc-antoine-godin' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>Marc Antoine Godin</a> <a href='https://www.habsfanatics.com/nhl-team/montreal-canadiens/multiple-players-could-suddenly-leave-the-canadiens-organization-shortly-including-a-surprise-name' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>had hinted at it in a recent article</a>, and it has now been officially confirmed. <h3>A second player leaves the Montreal Canadiens organization to try his luck in Europe</h3> Brandon Gignac has signed a two-year contract with EHC Kloten in Switzerland (yes, the former team of a certain David Reinbacher). <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/SwissHabs/status/1933848822670631052'><div style='border:1px solid #CCCCCC;border-radius:10px;padding:20px;width:300px;'>Loading from Twitter ...</div></a></blockquote></div> We wish him the best of luck going forward! It's a solid acquisition for Kloten, but obviously a significant loss within the Canadiens' organization, and especially for <a href='https://www.rocketlaval.com/en/' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>the Laval Rocket</a>. <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/DLCoulisses/status/1933874408499650696'><div style='border:1px solid #CCCCCC;border-radius:10px;padding:20px;width:300px;'>Loading from Twitter ...</div></a></blockquote></div> Aged 27 and originally from Repentigny, forward Brandon Gignac, 5-foot-11 and 195 pounds, <a href='https://www.markerzone.com/hockey/stats/nhl/draft.php?a=2016&e=6' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>was a 3rd-round pick of the New Jersey Devils in 2016</a>. He recorded 1 point (1 goal) in 7 games with the Montreal Canadiens, and posted the following seasons: 6 points in 15 games in 2024-2025 55 points in 61 games in 2023-2024 33 points in 49 games in 2022-2023 And 26 points in 48 games with the Laval Rocket in 2021-2022. This opens up another spot for a young player on <a href='https://www.rocketlaval.com/en/' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>the Laval Rocket</a>, so it'll be interesting to see which prospect seizes the opportunity.
