Tonight, a little more than a year after the famous hostile offer submitted by the Carolina Hurricanes for forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi, the excellent informer Pierre LeBrun revealed some very interesting information.

Before the Canes made their hostile offer, there had been discussions about a trade between Montreal and Carolina (involving Kotkaniemi)
Lebrun even revealed what general manager Marc Bergevin was asking for in exchange for KK. According to his information, Bergevin wanted Seth Jarvis.
It would have been a "one for one" trade:
To Montreal - Seth Jarvis
To Carolina - Jesperi Kotkaniemi
In hindsight, this would have been a solid deal for the Habs, but fortunately for Hurricanes fans, their GM turned it down. We know the rest, he finally acquired the Finn via hostile bid.
Let's talk about this hostile offer, in hindsight, do you think the CH did the right thing by not tying?
Jarvis, 20, was drafted 13th overall in 2020. He had a very solid 17 goals and 40 points in 68 games in his only career NHL season and 8 points in 14 playoff games.
This would have been a great move for Montreal and it was a nice try on Marc Bergevin's part. For more details:
