The idea of possibly seeing Logan Mailloux break into the Montreal Canadiens' lineup as early as next season is increasingly circulating, but now, it has reached another level.
A surprising turn of events and NHL games for Mailloux as early as next year?
We are of the belief that caution is needed before bringing young players into the NHL too quickly.
It's crucial to make the best possible decisions for the optimal development of each young player, but we trust the organization for that.
In short, the Canadiens seem to believe that Mailloux is ready for an NHL opportunity. It appears to be getting serious.
Check out what Rob Ramage, the director of player development, just stated:
"He certainly looks like an NHL guy."
- Ramage, about Mailloux
He added that he is not concerned about the defensive shortcomings.
And Ramage is possibly the one who knows Mailloux best, as a player and as an individual.
"In the last two years, Ramage has spent a lot of time watching Mailloux in action (to the point where he thinks he has seen him more often than his own son during this period). He has followed the young man's development both on and off the ice, and he is impressed with what he sees."

This pretty much sums it up and we absolutely tend to trust Ramage on this one.
Of course, it must be remembered that to play in the NHL, Mailloux must get the green light from Gary Bettman, but that seems to be just a formality at this stage.
Mailloux has done everything necessary to deserve a second chance. And he has a real chance to surprise next fall:
