During the most recent episode of his very popular podcast, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman talked a lot about Patrick Roy and Martin St-Louis.
This comes after some journalists from La Presse mentioned a possible departure of Martin St-Louis in a few years. (notably because it's extremely rare these days to see a head coach stay with the same club for 10 years)
Elliotte Friedman believes Martin St-Louis has a future in Montreal, but...
The Sportsnet insider indeed mentioned that he still believes St-Louis has a future with the Canadiens, but he also imagines a world where Patrick Roy would be the head coach of the Habs.
"Martin St-Louis has a future in Montreal. I think he will do a good job and win a lot of games there (in Montreal).
But you have to look at the situation imagining what it would be like if Patrick Roy coached the Canadiens." - Elliotte Friedman
Indeed, it would be something, and the excitement would be more than extreme. (thus profitable for a certain Geoff Molson)
In fact, it would be profitable for many people.
RDS beat viewership ratings on Thursday, journalists had work like never before, and the sale of promotional items exploded over the past few days.
Is it still possible to see Patrick Roy "coach" the Montreal Canadiens one day? Maybe, but honestly, I think the conversation is extremely premature.
"Friedman also imagines a world where Patrick Roy would be the coach of the Canadiens."
Patrick is happy with the Islanders, he just arrived there, and let's not forget everything that Martin St-Louis brings to the Canadiens.
We must not take it for granted.
Martin is an excellent head coach and we love him. (the players do too)
We are extremely happy to see Patrick Roy back in the NHL, we are extremely happy to have Martin St-Louis as the pilot in Montreal.
Let's keep it that way!
