Major: the Canadiens have officially made their decision with Cayden Primeau and it changes everything
Last night on TVA Sports, reporter Renaud Lavoie shared some very interesting and important information.
Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens have officially made their decision regarding the young goaltender Cayden Primeau.
He will not be placed on NHL waivers. This issue is resolved, and a decision has been made.
The three-goalie situation will therefore continue with the CH, and when it gets resolved, it won't be because Primeau was put on waivers, but because Kent Hughes found a trade.
"I was talking with Kent a bit earlier today, and his point is as follows: Did Cayden Primeau lack rhythm in his first start against the Devils two weeks ago? And yesterday, after 16 days without playing? The answer is no." - Via Renaud Lavoie
He continues:
"Is it ideal? No. But one thing is certain, we want to protect an important asset on the team. We have invested in him over the past few years, and we will not place him on waivers.
That will not happen. We know we have a young man with us who will continue to grow in this league. Let's be patient, there will eventually be a situation, whatever it may be." - Renaud Lavoie
So, it's a matter (the three-goalie situation) that will be resolved through a concluded trade, that's all.
We love it, because it would have been really a shame to lose Primeau "for nothing," but at the same time, to what extent can the CH continue to play Primeau once every 2-3 weeks?
What would you do if it was your decision? Trade Allen? Trade Montembeault? Or trade Primeau?
One thing is for sure, Kent Hughes must be active on the phone these days, especially with all the teams in search of a goalie.
Credit and details.
