Arber Xhekaj's story is worthy of a Hollywood movie script. This young man who was never drafted in either the OHL or NHL beat all odds by playing directly in the National Hockey League in his first professional season.
The 21 year old is not only very good at hitting and defending his teammates, he can also play hockey and competes quite well against the best players in the world in his first season in the NHL.
A Golden Knights scout actually gave him the highest compliment, saying he is the most improved player in NHL history, according to the Instagram account Insta Tricolore.
He even adds that if the Habs hadn't signed him last summer, Xhekaj would have received 32 offers the following November. So this is heavy on the stroke of genius that the club's former management had in inviting him to their training camp and offering him a contract immediately after.
At the rate the CH number 72 is developing, he could be particularly dominant defensively in the next few years, as well as adding a lot of intimidation to the lineup, thanks to his very tough style of play.
