Currently, Dr. William Knight is in a press briefing to provide a major update on the condition of Buffalo Bills youngster Damar Hamlin in relation to Monday's scary scene in the NFL.
We told you about this earlier today, but we absolutely must report what was just said:
"Dr. William Knight says Damar Hamlin had a pulse, then lost it while surrounded by medical personnel. He then had immediate CPR. It's amazing to imagine. ... When asked if he held people's hands, the doctors said, "He held a lot of people's hands."
- Ian Rapoport
So Hamlin did indeed shake hands with his loved ones, in the last few hours, which is major.
Dr. Timothy Pritts of UC Health, on Damar Hamlin: "He's made substantial improvement. It appears his neurological condition and function is intact. We are very proud to report that. ... This marks a really good turning point in his ongoing care."
There's even more incredible:
"Doctors said that after Damar Hamlin woke up last night, he asked, in writing, who won the game. The doctors told him, "Yes, you won. You won the game of life."
- Adam Schefter
We have chills.
Picture the scene. Hamlin wakes up for the first time since the horrific incident, and he was able to ask who won the game.
That was his first question. It says a lot about the kid, and to hear that makes us very emotional. And what about the doctor's response!
Dr. Knight's press briefing continues, and the news is encouraging! But we must continue to send as many positive vibes as possible to Damar Hamlin and his loved ones.
