In the last few minutes, BPM Sports host Maxime Truman posted this:

"There are whispers in my ear that Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton would love to get their hands on a promising young goalie before the trade deadline.

If not, during the draft.

To be continued."

This is quite a development regarding Kent Hughes and the trade market.

It gives us some very interesting information as to what the Montreal Canadiens are currently actively looking to acquire, and it's not good news for Cayden Primeau, who played 12 games with Laval this season. He maintained a 3.53 goals-against-average and a .893 save percentage.

It also seems to confirm that Hughes and Gorton did their homework on Ilya Samsonov and Cal Petersen, as rumours suggested, but they were not convinced by them.

Potential candidates?

If you have any thoughts, please let us know, but personally, we would look at Vancouver. Their star goaltender Thatcher Demko is currently available on the trade market and he has immense potential.

We've seen him win games on his own in the past, especially in the playoffs, and Kent Hughes could take advantage of a tough season here to pry him away from the Canucks. Demko has the potential to be a top-5 goalie in the world.

In closing, check out some other potential targets for Hughes and Gorton:

- Devon Levi or Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen (Sabres)

- Cal Petersen, if the Kings hold back salary

- Karel Vejmelka

- Joel Hofer

- Dan Vladar or Dustin Wolf (Flames)

- MacKenzie Blackwood

- Elvis Merzlikins
