There is likely to be a lot of movement, as buyers become more clearly separated from sellers.
Speaking of buyers, the Carolina Hurricanes are off to a solid start this season, with the second overall NHL ranking and a 22-6-6 record.
Clearly, Don Waddell, the team's GM, will want to improve his team for the playoffs, and that's probably going to come through major trades, but it's also going to come through small trades to free up some salary and make room on the roster. (or to add some useful elements)
Could trading young forward Ryan Suzuki be a solution for the Canes? Considering that the Habs certainly have some pieces that could interest Waddell, a reunion between the two Suzuki brothers could be possible.
According to some experts, there are two possible trades if Kent Hughes wants to go ahead with it.
1- Trade a forward who can help the Hurricanes more in the short term, like a Joel Armia or a Jonathan Drouin or a Mike Hoffman.
2- If the Canes refuse, Hughes could trade them a 2023 3rd round pick, for Suzuki.
Do you like the idea?
If the Hurricanes prefer a Drouin or Hoffman, that could also be a possibility, while adjusting the value.
Personally, we like the idea, especially if Carolina likes Armia.
Suzuki, 21, is a first-round pick in 2019 (28th overall).
He is off to a more difficult start to his professional career. He has played 64 games in the American League, dating back to the 2020-2021 season, and has a total of 27 points.
Suzuki has three points in four games this season with the Chicago Wolves. His potential is very high and he is only 21 years old, but according to most observers, the Hurricanes could sacrifice him for immediate help.
It would be nice for Montreal to take advantage of this, but let's wait and see!
