As my colleague Alex Dery mentioned earlier, the New Jersey Devils were playing their first game of the season on Friday night when they hosted the Chicago Blackhawks.
In this 4-3 overtime win for the Devils, Dougie Hamilton made a big splash by scoring after only 17 seconds. The new Devils' member became the first defenseman to score a goal so quickly with his new team.
But that's not all the excitement as Jack Hughes scored a spectacular winning goal in overtime. Worthy of a circus performance, no less! WOW! Hughes closed out the game with a brace.
Following the majestic goal, Hughes, who is establishing himself as the cornerstone of his team, threw his stick into the stands towards a fan.
Isn't hockey great, folks?
