While the eyes of Habs fans were focused on Juraj Slafkovsky, the team's first pick in the last draft, during the rookie tournament, his fellow Slovak, Filip Mesar, also managed to make his mark.
Selected 26th in the first round, the young Canadiens prospect did very well in the rookie camp and even some hockey fans wondered if he could start the season with the big club.
However, as Mark Suciu of Habsolumentfan.com reports, it appears Mesar's fate has already been decided.
According to Sportsnet reporter Jeff Marek, the Habs' second overall pick will report to the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Junior League after the Habs' training camp.
This information was revealed on the 32 Thoughts podcast and later confirmed by Tomas Zubrus via his Twitter account.
Mesar, who signed his NHL entry-level contract over the summer, will get a chance to play in the best junior league in the country and it will certainly be great for his development.
