As the Montreal Canadiens get ready to face Jeff Petry and the Red Wings in Detroit, Petry has answered questions from local journalists in the last few hours.
He notably sent a nice message to Kent Hughes.
See some excerpts from statements collected by the excellent journalist JF Chaumont, from the Journal de Montréal.
I am happy to come back home. I already knew several players since I have been skating for many years during the summer in Detroit with players from the Red Wings. - Jeff Petry
Let's remember that, just before the start of the season, Petry was traded to Montreal and became a Canadiens player again, to everyone's surprise, without ever wearing the jersey again (and without ever physically returning here).
He was quickly traded again by Kent Hughes, this time to the Detroit Red Wings, as you know.
On this matter, see what Petry had to say.
Kent [Hughes] talked to me quickly to describe his intentions. He was honest. He wanted to trade me, but there were several implications.
I liked our conversation after the Penguins trade with the Canadiens. He had told me he would work hard to find the best solution for me. He acted with class." - Jeff Petry
Petry then clearly thanked Kent Hughes publicly for his class and for everything he has done for him and his family.
Clearly, the reputation of the GM in the NHL is on the rise.
Petry's message is clear: thank you, Kent, a man of great class. It will be interesting to see the former #26 of the CH in action tonight against his former teammates.
For details and his full remarks.
