Kent Hughes' trade to help the Canadiens win this year: the general manager confirms he does not want to sacrifice the future and will not do so

This exercise can be done in the coming weeks, but for now, the CH organization will keep an eye on all the team's players in order to target the shortcomings that will need to be addressed.
That being said, as reported by Félix Forget from the site Danslescoulisses.com, Kent Hughes should not deviate from his plan, even if the Canadiens were to have a season beyond expectations.
This is at least what he declared on TVA Sports.
Should his team be in the race for a playoff spot around the trade deadline (which does not seem impossible), Hughes was quite clear about his intentions:
Even if the team has shown signs of progress during training camp and at the beginning of the season, it must however be acknowledged that there is still a lot of work to be done within the organization before becoming competitive.
This was clearly seen with the injury that ended Kirby Dach's season, indicating that the team's core is still young and not quite mature enough to bring in rental veterans at the trade deadline.
In conclusion, the 2023-2024 season may be the famous year of transition between rebuilding and greater aspirations for the organization, but all the pieces of the puzzle must fall into place for this to materialize.
Do you believe that the CH will be able to afford to dream of the playoffs as early as next year?
