If you thought the headshot delivered to Nathan MacKinnon was just an unfortunate accident by Pierre Crinon, think again.

Tom Wilson, Nathan MacKinnon and Team Canada were clearly right to be wary of him.
While some are trying to downplay his hit on MacKinnon, troubling information about his recent past has surfaced.
HFTV reminded fans that Crinon received a major seven-game suspension earlier this season for an act of unbelievable cowardice.
"Crinon got suspended 7 games for repeatedly punching a maskless goalie to the ice and injuring his eye.

And this is the guy people wanna defend over our own Canadian Tom Wilson btw."

We’re not talking about a late hit or an accidental high stick in the heat of the moment.
The towering blueliner was disciplined for repeatedly striking a goaltender who no longer had his protective mask on.
Even worse, the gratuitous attack caused an eye injury to the opposing netminder, leaving him defenseless on the ice.
It demonstrates a blatant lack of judgment.

Pierre Crinon’s past 7-game suspension adds context to hit on Nathan MacKinnon

This context completely changes the perception of Tom Wilson’s physical response.
You realize he didn’t go after an innocent player, but rather a repeat offender capable of dangerous actions.
Crinon has proven in the past that he has no respect for the safety of other players on the ice.
When you see news like this, you better understand why it caused such an uproar.
This is exactly why Jon Cooper keeps a guy like Wilson in his lineup — to neutralize this type of individual.
Let’s be honest, Canada dodged a bullet: MacKinnon could have suffered a serious injury.
