We just learned that things got heated between Joshua Roy and player development coach Francis Bouillon

Canadiens prospect Joshua Roy had an emotional moment when he won the gold medal with Team Canada at the last World Junior Championship in early 2023.

In addition to picking up an assist on Dylan Guenther's game-winning goal in overtime of the final, Roy became the highest-scoring Quebecer in the history of the tournament.

However, as Nicolas Desrosiers of Marqueur.com reports, the return to reality can sometimes be difficult for a young hockey player. This is probably what the forward who plays with the Sherbrooke Phoenix in the QMJHL is experiencing.

During his appearance on 98.5 in Montreal, the former defenseman and now the Canadiens' player development coach, Francis Bouillon, openly declared that things have been brewing recently between him and the young Quebec forward.


Often, the youngsters who return from the World Juniors already see themselves in the NHL and Bouillon wanted to set the record straight with Roy by telling him that there was still a lot of work to be done before reaching the NHL.


We agree that it's totally normal for a young person to be on cloud nine after winning a gold medal. Having an experienced man like the former CH defenseman, who has always fought to win a position with the big club, can only be beneficial for the young man who is still having a stellar season in junior.

A fifth round pick of the Habs in the 2021 draft, Roy has 53 points so far this season, including 23 goals, in 32 games with Sherbrooke. His team will be one to watch for the rest of the season, as the Phoenix are going for broke this year.
