Price and the Kraken: Carey revealed why Bergevin didn't protect him during the expansion draft

In his most recent appearance on the La Poche Bleu podcast, Canadiens goalie Carey Price was extremely generous with his time and answers.

As we reported yesterday, he touched on many topics, including his entry into the NHL's player assistance program.

Also, Price went back to the episode of not being protected for the expansion draft by the Seattle Kraken.

On this subject, many believed that the non-protection of Carey Price came from Marc Bergevin? Well no, it came from the goalie himself.

In an interview with the guys at La Poche Bleu, Carey gave some details:

"A few days before the expansion draft, I talked to Bergevin about it and with my contract and my injury, I told him that I thought they would make a good move by making me available, because I didn't think they would pick me, when it was a strategic move to be able to protect another player." - Carey Price

Lapierre concluded by saying:

"This is the answer we were hoping for!"

So Price explained a bit about what he told Bergevin to convince him to protect Jake Allen instead of himself.

It's rare to see a player get involved in a decision like this (a major one), but today we can thank him for doing so.

Time has proven him right and it would have been a huge blow for Montreal to lose Jake Allen (and Carey Price, via injury)

It proves once again what a great leader Price is for the organization.

We highly recommend you watch it:
