New major statement on the future of Logan Mailloux and it would be huge
BY ELIAS AUGUST 19, 2023 (10:11)
A controversial first-round pick in the summer of 2021, the young man has matured greatly over the past two years, and many Canadiens fans would love to see him start the season in Montreal.
A few weeks ago, Stéphane Leroux mentioned during his appearance on 98.5 that Mailloux could very well be the second-best defenseman of the 2021 draft, and he was impressed with his performance with the London Knights in the Ontario junior league.
Here's what he had to say about him:
He's a guy who lacks mileage. Even now, only the future will tell, but I have scouts who told me about Logan Mailloux that he might have been the second-best defenseman of his draft. Let's remember he was drafted late in the first round, but if he didn't have that stain on his record, he probably would've been drafted earlier. If you watch his games with the London Knights, and I've watched quite a few, he looked like a man playing amongst boys.
But the junior hockey expert isn't the only one who praised the young defenseman. As reported by Habsolumentfan.com, he received quite a compliment from his general manager.
A certain Mark Hunter, Dale's brother, stated that Mailloux was the best blue-line prospect to come through the team since John Carlson of the Washington Capitals.
This was at least reported by the Canadiens' former scout, Grant McCagg, during his appearance on The Sick Podcast with Tony Marinaro.
The right-handed defenseman for the Capitals has been considered one of the NHL's top offensive defensemen for about a decade, and like Mailloux, he was a late first-round pick in 2008.
It's promising for what's to come for the tall right-handed defenseman who will undoubtedly receive a lot of attention at the Canadiens' next training camp in September.
It would be huge for the Canadiens if Logan Mailloux could develop to the height of his potential.
