Montreal Canadiens disrespected the Maple Leafs, says Sheldon Keefe

On Saturday night, the Toronto Maple Leafs lost in the first round of the playoffs for the sixth consecutive time. The team's head coach, Sheldon Keefe, made a surprising statement after the loss.

He said that the team has received much more respect in the handshake this year than in any previous series. The fact that Tampa knows that the series could have gone either way would have a lot to do with it.


Here are the coach's words as reported by reporter Chris Johnston:


"Sheldon Keefe says the Leafs had a lot more "respect" in the post-series TBLightning handshake than after previous losses.

Then he adds, "We're not in the respect game, we're in the winning game. We have to find a way to do that."

At least the head coach knows from his comments that the problem goes deeper than a lack of respect...
