Monster trade proposal involving Cole Caufield: journalist François Gagnon would accept a specific trade involving Connor Bedard

We all knew it, but the current World Junior Hockey Championship confirms it. Connor Bedard is in a class of his own, and the team that is lucky enough to acquire him will have a cross-generational player like Sidney Crosby or Connor McDavid.

To prove it to you, you only have to look at the records he broke at the WJC. On the same sequence, he broke three Canadian records: goals (15), points (32) in history and points (19) in a single tournament. He also became the first player under the age of 18 to score 19 points in a single tournament in any country. Jaromir Jagr (18) previously held the record.

You can also watch his goal in overtime of the quarterfinals of the tournament last Monday. The young man, who is only 17, was at the end of his streak when he scored.




There is no doubt that the DGs in the lottery will be salivating until the last minute...

On this subject, Kent Hughes said this Tuesday night on RDS that the young man was a very special player and that he would wait for the draw before dreaming!


To date, according to the site Tankathon, the CH has an 11% chance of selecting first in the next draft with the amount of their choice (6.5%) and the Florida Panthers (3.5%). Only the Columbus Blue Jackets (11.5%), Anaheim Ducks (13.5%) and Chicago Blackhawks (18.5%) currently have a better chance than the CH.

One has to wonder what the CH could do, if they don't win the lottery, to acquire the young prodigy. In this regard, a fan asked François Gagnon via his Twitter account if he was willing to trade Cole Caufield for Connor Bedard. The journalist did not even hesitate to accept the transaction!


As my colleague at Let's Go Habs says, we love Caufield, he'll even surely win the Maurice Richard Trophy one of these days. But getting the chance to get a generational talent like Bedard doesn't happen every day.

Of course, it will never happen as a trade, but it's fun to talk about it, for the fun of it.
