MAJOR TRADE PROPOSAL BETWEEN THE CANADIENS AND THE CANUCKS INVOLVING FORWARD BROCK BOESER AND EDMUNDSON
BY MARCO
At this point, it really feels like the end for him in Vancouver, at least according to this information reported by Elliotte Friedman (Sportsnet).
"Reputable Elliotte Friedman confirmed that the Canucks have given Boeser's agent permission to talk to other teams in an effort to complete a possible deal."
Considering how well Kent Hughes knows Boeser's agent, and considering he is only 25 years old, many observers have linked Brock Boeser's name to the Montreal Canadiens.
He could be the next Kirby Dach or the next Sean Monahan.
A realistic trade?
Then there's the excellent Scott Matla, who posted this:
You can guess that this has caused a huge reaction. Obviously, a player like Boeser is going to cost a lot more than Armia and a third round pick, but it makes you want to try a more realistic proposition.
So a new suggestion has attracted attention, and it makes a lot more sense.
To Montreal - Brock Boeser
To Vancouver - Joel Edmundson + a second round pick + possibly Joel Armia or Jonathan Drouin
Much like Ben Chiarot last season, Edmundson is a great veteran who could really help the Canucks, but is made less essential to the Habs' success (Especially with congestion on defense and a youngster like Jordan Harris who could take on a bigger role)
On the other hand, Edmundson is exactly the kind of player Vancouver really needs. He could replace Chris Tanev, who left in 2020 and has never been replaced since (which clearly hurts them)
Some fans have suggested adding Jonathan Drouin, who could definitely benefit from another start, but it all depends on how the Canucks feel about him. Ditto for Armia.
It's always hard to assess a player's value, but considering that Chiarot brought in more than a first round pick, it gives some idea as to "Eddy".
Brock Boeser has 15 points, including four goals, in only 19 games this season. He has tremendous potential, but the Canucks don't seem to want him anymore.
Do you think Kent Hughes should try out? What would your offer be?
