In his famous segment that has been making the rounds on the web over the past few hours, journalist Norman Flynn let slip a very interesting information regarding a possible acquisition of Mark Stone by the Montreal Canadiens in 2019.

Just prior to the trade of Mark Stone from the Ottawa Sens to the Vegas Golden Knights in February 2019, general manager Marc Bergevin reportedly contacted the Senators to inquire about the possibility of bringing Stone to the Habs.

"Mark Stone, he was available on the trade market. So when he became available, I wondered if the Montreal Canadiens were in on it. I met with Marc Bergevin and I asked him the question about whether he had called (the Sens, to try to acquire Mark Stone).

And he confirmed that he had called, but he told me that Ottawa was asking too much. Well I'll tell you something, the two guys (that the Sens wanted in exchange for Stone), they're not even with the Montreal Canadiens anymore and then they were two young guys." - Norman Flynn

Interesting! Flynn wouldn't name the youngsters in question, but based on the information revealed earlier, check out the names that seem to fit:

- Jesperi Kotkaniemi
- Noah Juulsen
- Ryan Poehling
- Nikita Scherbak
- Josh Brook.

Imagine if Marc Bergevin had agreed to trade two of the above names for Mark Stone. It could have changed a lot of things for the Habs, but these are things that are impossible to predict accurately.

Stone was eventually traded for Oscar Lindberg, Erik Brannstrom and a second round pick (to Las Vegas) Stone, 30, had 21 points in 27 games this season, 30 points in 37 games last season, and 61 points in 55 games this season.
