Despite being eliminated in the QMJHL semi-finals last season, the Quebec Remparts should be very competitive again this year.

However, as Marc-Olivier Cook of Danslescoulisses.com reports, this could very well be Patrick Roy's last season as head coach of the Red Devils.

"I know this is possibly my last go around as a head coach, but I love the junior product. I love working with the youth and the opportunity to give back to my sport."

These words were collected by TVA Sports reporter Stéphane Turcot as he met with the former NHL star goalie ahead of the QMJHL regular season kickoff this week.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his coaching position, Roy has not ruled out staying with the Remparts organization, as he is also the general manager. And it could very well be that his successor will be the one who will be at his side for the next season, namely a certain Simon Gagné.

I'm seriously thinking about it. I think I've been around quite a bit. It's all going to be relative depending on what Simon (Gagne) wants to experience."

An important statement!

The latter joined the Remparts during the summer when he will act as assistant coach.

But to get back to Patrick Roy, if this was really his last season behind the bench, it's a safe bet that he will want to do everything he can to get the Remparts as far as possible in the playoffs, and even to the Memorial Cup, which will be held in British Columbia, more specifically in Kamloops for the 2023 edition.

In any case, he could return, but only as general manager.
