This weekend, with a game-winning goal with only four seconds left in the game, Canadiens prospect Lane Hutson reached the 22-point mark this season.

The 22 points, including 8 goals and 14 assists, surpass the point total of the great Cale Makar in his first NCAA season. Hutson will have done it all with no less than 14 fewer games than the current Avalanche star defenseman.

However, this statistic should not be taken lightly. The 2022 2nd round pick of the tricolore will have to prove that he can do it in the big league while many are still hesitant about the young man's chances of success. His small stature (5 feet 8 inches and 147 pounds) surely played a role in his sliding to the 62nd spot in the auction.

We'll have to see how Hutson progresses in his second season in the NCAA. Makar had an excellent second campaign in the American university circuit with a collection of 16 goals, 33 assists for a total of 49 points in 41 games. He was recalled by the Avalanche at the end of that season during the club's playoff run and had 5 points in 10 games.

Still, Hutson is the offensive quarterback that the CH currently needs. Time will tell if he can fill that position with the club...
