John Carlson has been out of action since late December after suffering a severe injury when a 90MPH slap shot hit him directly in the head.

The Capitals can anticipate their top defenseman's return as he nears recovery from his head injuries.

Despite the Capitals' slim playoff chances, Carlson's return will be a welcome boost for the team.

Carlson's injury was extremely serious.


When he was well enough, Carlson shared his experience:


«It felt like being struck by lightning,»
«The pain was unbearable, and I was unsure if I would make it through.»


On December 23rd, Carlson suffered a fractured skull and severed temporal artery from the slap shot. Fast forward three months, and the Capitals' top defenseman may be ready to return as early as next week.
