In the last few seconds, we learned that there is a big surprise on waivers today.

Goalie Alex Nedeljkovic, who was nominated for NHL Rookie of the Year (Calder Trophy) in 2021, is now available for free.

Imagine, the goalie was among the top three rookies in the entire NHL less than two years ago, and now he's available for free. The other two nominees, along with Nedeljkovic, that season?

Jason Robertson and Kirill Kaprizov, two of the top 10 players in the NHL.

If given the opportunity, do you think Kent Hughes should claim the goalie? Do you think he would make a good duo with Samuel Montembeault, if the Montreal Canadiens trade Jake Allen?

More details to follow!

In his rookie season, in 2020-21, Nedeljkovic maintained a 15-5-3 record with the Carolina Hurricanes, a 1.90 GAA and a .932 SV%.

This season with the Detroit Red Wings, he has a 2-4-2 record, a 4.09 GAA and a .880 SV%.
