It's hard to understand why Gary Bettman is stubbornly keeping the Coyotes in Arizona when nothing seems to be going right with the organization for ages. The arena has always been a big issue and the organization has been trying to find a permanent home for far too long.
They have had their lease terminated by the Gila River Arena
after being unable to pay their bills on time in addition to having embarrassing attendance statistics. As a result, the Coyotes will play their home games this season at Arizona State University
in a 3,500-seat arena where the Coyotes likely won't sell more tickets.
The Coyotes decided to try to excite their fans by showing what their new home looks like, and needless to say, it's embarrassing. This arena was built and intended to be used by the Arizona State University
team, not an NHL franchise.
There are no upper bleachers and the lower bleachers have only about a dozen rows. The arena also has some substandard suites that are not even up to the standards of many Canadian Hockey League teams. Here are some photos shared by the Arizona Coyotes.
In order to give hope, once again, to the team's fans, the organization has unveiled its plans for a future fixed amphitheater in Arizona. The images are superb, it remains to be seen if it will actually be built...
It's pretty special (and embarrassing, according to many) to unveil images of an arena they "hope" to build one day:
