After making a splash with the Habs in the 2021 playoffs, Cole Caufield had a two-part season in 2021-2022.

In his first 30 games, the team's first pick in 2019 had scored just one goal and eight points. After that, when Martin St-Louis arrived behind the Habs bench, things turned around for the young forward as he finished the season with a total of 23 goals and 43 points in 67 games.

But what happened to make his production literally skyrocket?

As Felix Forget of Danslescoulisses.com reports, the 21-year-old was on the Raw Knuckles Podcast, hosted by former Habs tough guy Chris Nilan, and he addressed the topic:

Caufield reflected on his rough start to the season and admitted that he didn't like being sent back to Laval at all and used that as motivation to get back to the big club as soon as possible.

He also talked about the arrival of Martin St-Louis as the team's head coach in February and had this to say about him:

"I've never seen a brain work as quickly as his. He really helps me and his advice works."

During the interview, which lasts just over 50 minutes, he was also asked about Juraj Slafkovskı, the team's first pick in the last draft.

Number 22 admitted that he has been greatly impressed by the Slovak since his arrival, even calling him a beast, having been particularly impressed by the famous sequence where Slafkovskı gives the stationary bike a bad time in the Habs' complex.

Caufield also added that he hopes he will have the chance to be his teammate for many years. Obviously, we hope it will be in Montreal.
