A very revealing statistic clearly demonstrates the importance of Arber Xhekaj in the Canadiens' lineup
Since Martin St-Louis took over in February, there has been little opportunity to criticize his work. The players are having fun on the ice, the youngsters are improving all the time and the Tricolore has a positive record after a quarter of the season.
As a rookie NHL coach, St. Louis has made and will make more mistakes. Until now, it has not often been the case that the CH coach has made the same mistake twice, but that was the case in Tuesday night's game against the San Jose Sharks.St. Louis left out crowd favorite Arber Xhekaj, a decision that was controversial. While Xhekaj makes mistakes, he brings a different dimension to the team that no other player can.
In fact, Xhekaj has been left out for two games so far this campaign and the team have lost both of these games. The team has also allowed 11 goals while scoring only 2 in those games.
Another criticized decision was to insert Jake Allen into the lineup, while Samuel Montembeault has been playing very solid hockey lately. The Habs' #34 once again allowed a goal early in the game, which is a very bad trend.
However, St. Louis is a winner and will bounce back from his decisions. He is the right man for the job and we hope he stays with the CH for a long time.
