It's starting to get busy on the NHL trade market, now that the first quarter of the regular season is already over, and we just got some major news.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the dynamic Brock Boeser is officially available on the trade market, and he's really on his way out of Vancouver.

"Friedman at intermission says Brock Boeser's representatives have been authorized to talk to other NHL teams, in order to complete a potential trade." - NHL Watcher

It's very rare to see this kind of talent become available on the trade market, and it could be a superb opportunity for Kent Hughes to make a deal similar to the one involving Kirby Dach.

Boeser, 25, is a 6-foot-1, 210-pound winger who was drafted in the first round in 2015. He has one of the best shots in the entire NHL and his potential is huge.

We're talking about a player who produced at a rate of 40 goals per 82 games (!) in his rookie season with the Canucks. He produced at rates of 73 and 70 points in his first two seasons.

After battling some health problems and a terrible personal ordeal, Boeser is back this season. He has 15 points in 19 games and is on pace for almost 70 points this year.

So why would the Canucks want to trade him? That's a great question, as he has always been universally praised as an outstanding teammate.

It must be said that the Canucks want to make more room for their recent acquisition Andrei Kuzmenko, but their management of the Boeser file seems quite catastrophic thanks to them. They are obviously on the verge of letting go of an extremely talented young player who is well liked by his teammates, and they really wouldn't ask that much in return.

Hard to understand but well, it's a case to follow.

Do you think Kent Hughes should try and acquire Brock Boeser? The opportunity to make a big splash seems real, especially since the general manager of the Montreal Canadiens knows Boeser's agent well (the one who has the right now to find a trading partner to acquire his client)
