A concrete trade offer for Mike Hoffman has just been proposed

When looking at players likely to be benched at the start of the season, one of the first names that comes to mind is forward Mike Hoffman.
Since his arrival in Montreal two years ago, the left winger hasn't been productive offensively, and as reported by Raphaël Doucet from La Poche Bleue, Kent Hughes should consider offering Hoffman to another team while retaining a portion of his salary.
He suggests trading Hoffman for a seventh-round draft pick and retaining one million dollars in salary.
It says a lot about Hoffman's value and his impact with the Canadiens since his arrival in the 2021-2022 season.
Would you do it?
We remember the infamous story involving Erik Karlsson's wife when he was playing for the Ottawa Senators, and since then, his reputation hasn't been very good throughout the NHL.
To instill a winning culture in Montreal, as Jeff Gorton, Kent Hughes, and Martin St. Louis wish, they need to build strong team chemistry, and it's highly likely that Hoffman is no longer part of the Canadiens' plans.
However, one can find solace in the fact that in the best-case scenario, Hughes could get good value if Hoffman manages to bounce back in the final year of his contract. In the worst-case scenario, he will be left on the sidelines more often than not by Martin St. Louis.
